Personalised ceremonies

New Zealand was the first country in Oceania, the fourth in the Southern Hemisphere and the fifteenth country in the World, to legalise same-sex marriage.

Under New Zealand law, same sex couples have all the legal rights and privileges under the Marriage (Definition of Marriage) Amendment Bill, as anyone else.

What a wonderful time to recognise your love and commitment to each other!

I am excited and pleased to be able offer my services as celebrant and/or Master of Ceremonies for your special day.

Many couples from overseas, especially Australia, choose to marry in beautiful New Zealand.

Our stunning scenery, relaxed attitude, and support for same-sex marriage makes this a wonderful setting for a wedding.

If you are based overseas and coming to New Zealand for your wedding, I'll extend my services to help with any arrangements for your wedding – photographer, florist, wedding cake, catering, and even witnesses.

Music, links and legalities

SOUND SYSTEM

Whether you are on the beach, backyard or wedding venue, I have a sound system available, with microphones, to ensure all your guests can hear your ceremony.

Ideal to play your entrance music, use during your ceremony, music whilst you are signing your marriage certificate and for your exit music - the use of the sound system is included as part of your celebrant fee.

LEGALITIES

You will be required to apply for a Marriage Licence, through Births, Deaths and Marriage http://www.dia.govt.nz/diawebsite.nsf/wpg_URL/Services-Births-Deaths-and-Marriages-How-to-Get-a-Marriage-Licence

Your licence is valid for three months from the date of the licence and a Registered Marriage Celebrant is required to carry out the marriage.

In the 21st century a lot has changed with marriage ceremonies except at some point you are required to say “I AB take you CD” to be my husband/wife – or words to that effect, using the full names of the couple.

The rest of the ceremony can be personalised to suit the couple. Two witnesses are needed – witnesses do not need to be one of the bridal party, they can be anyone that you nominate.

The marriage licence is signed by the bridal couple, the two witnesses and the Celebrant. All very straight forward and I am able to assist with any questions.
